Egmont Letters Club · In force as of 24 October 2026
This English translation is provided for convenience only. In case of discrepancy, the French version prevails.
These general terms and conditions of sale (the "Terms") govern any subscription to the Egmont Letters Club (the "Service") offered on letters-egmontmanor.com and egmontmanor.com (the "Site").
They apply to any subscriber who is a natural person acting for non-professional purposes (the "Subscriber" or "Consumer"), whatever their country of residence. Any subscription requires prior, express and unreserved acceptance of the Terms, given by confirming payment, the payment page stating expressly that payment constitutes acceptance of the Terms.
The applicable Terms are those in force on the day of subscription. The Seller may amend them at any time; an amendment applies to an existing Subscriber only from their next renewal, after notice by email at least 15 days in advance. A Subscriber who refuses the new Terms may cancel before they take effect, free of charge.
Nothing in these Terms deprives the Consumer of the mandatory protections granted by the law of their country of habitual residence (Regulation (EC) No 593/2008, art. 6). In case of conflict, the provision most favourable to the Consumer prevails.
The Service is published and sold by:
Company name: SAS Egmont Invest (the "Seller") Registered office: 9 rue des Colonnes, 75002 Paris, France RCS / SIREN: 993910132 EU VAT number: FR72993910132 Share capital: €1,000 Publication directors: Dimitri Petitpas and David Petitpas Letters shipping address: Manoir d'Egmont, 55 rue Jean Chauveau, 28220 Cloyes-les-Trois-Rivières, France Customer service: boutique@manoirdegmont.com Site host: Base44, a service of Wix.com Inc., 520 W 20th Street, New York, NY 10011, USA – https://base44.com
The Service consists of sending by post, once a month, an original letter written and published by the Manoir d'Egmont (the "Letter"), accompanied where applicable by an illustration or correspondence item. The Letters form a continuous series (e.g. "The Prologue", volumes I to VI for 2026); the Subscriber receives the Letter of the current month from their subscription, with no retroactive sending of previous volumes, unless otherwise stated on the Site.
The essential characteristics (format, language, frequency, indicative content) are described on the Site before ordering. Photographs and visuals are not contractual: each Letter is a printed object handled by hand and may show slight variations.
The Service is reserved for adult Consumers with legal capacity to contract. The Subscriber guarantees the accuracy of the information provided, in particular their full postal address and email address.
Subscription takes place online as follows: choice of offer (France or International), entry of details, summary, then secure payment constituting acceptance of the Terms. The order is final upon payment confirmation; a confirmation email containing the Terms and pre-contractual information is sent to the Subscriber on a durable medium.
Prices are stated in euros, all taxes included, shipping included: France offer: €9.90 per month – Metropolitan France and overseas departments International offer: €9.90 per month – All other countries served by La Poste
Where the Site displays an amount in another currency (e.g. Brazilian reais), this amount is an indicative conversion: the contractual price is the euro price and the amount actually charged may vary according to the rate applied by the card issuer, which may also charge exchange fees.
Payment is made by bank card via the provider Stripe, on a secure payment page. The Seller stores no card data. By subscribing, the Subscriber expressly authorises the charge of the subscription amount at subscription, then at each monthly due date on the anniversary date, until cancellation.
The Seller may change its prices. Any new price is notified to the Subscriber by email at least 30 days before it applies and applies only to later due dates; the Subscriber may cancel before that date, free of charge.
If a payment fails, the Subscriber is informed by email and the charge is retried. If not settled within 15 days, the subscription is suspended and then automatically terminated, with no Letter sent for the unpaid period.
The subscription is concluded for one month from the subscription date. It then renews tacitly for one-month periods, with no minimum commitment.
The Subscriber may cancel at any time, free of charge and without justification, by either of the following means: • from their subscriber area on the Site, via the "Cancel my subscription" function (three-click cancellation button, in accordance with Article L215-1-1 of the French Consumer Code); • by email to the customer service listed in Article 2, from the email address associated with the subscription.
Cancellation is confirmed by email within 5 business days. It takes effect at the end of the current monthly period: no new charge is made after the request, and no Letter is sent beyond the period already paid.
Shipping deadline. The month's Letters are prepared, stamped and handed to La Poste on the 1st of each month (the "Shipping Date"). A cancellation received before the Shipping Date cancels the sending of the current month's Letter; a cancellation received after the Shipping Date does not prevent delivery of the Letter already shipped, which remains the Subscriber's. The monthly period begun is not refunded, subject to the right of withdrawal in Article 6.
The Seller may terminate the subscription in case of unpaid amounts not settled (Article 4), an invalid delivery address not corrected after two reminders, or abusive use of the Service. The Seller may also end the Service as a whole with one month's notice by email; sums paid for periods not served are then refunded.
In accordance with Articles L221-18 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, the Subscriber has 14 days to withdraw from their initial subscription, without reason or penalty. This period runs from receipt of the first Letter. It does not apply to subsequent monthly renewals, which fall under the cancellation option in Article 5.
To exercise this right, the Subscriber notifies their decision by an unambiguous statement, by email to customer service or using the form in the appendix. The Seller acknowledges receipt by email without delay.
If the first Letter has already been shipped on the day of withdrawal, the Subscriber returns it to the shipping address in Article 2, without undue delay and no later than 14 days after their notification. Return costs are borne by the Subscriber. The Seller refunds all sums paid, by the same means of payment, no later than 14 days after being informed of the withdrawal; it may defer the refund until receipt of the Letter or proof of its return.
If the first Letter has not yet been shipped, the Seller cancels the shipment and refunds all sums paid within 14 days.
Withdrawal automatically ends the subscription and any recurring charge.
For a Consumer residing outside the European Union, any more favourable withdrawal period and terms provided by the law of their country of residence (for example Article 49 of the Brazilian Consumer Defence Code) apply under the conditions of Article 1, last paragraph.
Letters are sent by La Poste as untracked standard mail from the Manoir d'Egmont to the postal address provided by the Subscriber. Indicative delivery times are 7 to 14 business days for France and 14 to 31 business days internationally, excluding holiday periods and events affecting the postal service.
The Subscriber is solely responsible for the accuracy and updating of their postal address, which can be changed from their subscriber area before the Shipping Date. A Letter sent to an incorrect or incomplete address provided by the Subscriber is neither reshipped free of charge nor refunded.
If a Letter is not received within 30 days of the Shipping Date, the Subscriber reports it to customer service. The Seller then reships the Letter once, free of charge. Beyond one reshipment per twelve-month period, the Seller may offer tracked shipping at the Subscriber's expense.
Risk of loss or damage passes to the Subscriber when they, or a third party designated by them, take physical possession of the Letter. Letters are intended for personal use; any customs duties or import taxes remain, where applicable, the Subscriber's responsibility.
Customer service can be reached by email at the address in Article 2. Every request receives an immediate automatic acknowledgement and a reply within a maximum of 5 business days.
Any complaint about a Letter (non-receipt, damage, shipping error) is made by email, with a photograph if possible. The Seller responds with a reshipment, a credit or a refund, as appropriate.
The Seller remains bound by the legal guarantee of conformity (Articles L217-3 et seq. of the French Consumer Code) and the guarantee against hidden defects (Articles 1641 et seq. of the French Civil Code).
The Letters, their texts, illustrations, coat of arms, "ME" monogram, the "Manoir d'Egmont" trademark and all Site content are protected by copyright and trademark law and remain the exclusive property of the Seller or its authors.
The subscription grants the Subscriber a strictly personal and private right to read and keep. Any reproduction, scanning, publication, sharing on social networks, translation or commercial use, in whole or in part, without the Seller's prior written permission, is prohibited and constitutes infringement. Quoting a short extract with mention of the source remains permitted.
The Seller, as data controller, collects the data needed to manage the subscription: identity, postal address, email address, payment and shipping history. This data is processed on the basis of contract performance (GDPR, art. 6.1.b) and, for sending information about the Manoir d'Egmont, on the basis of legitimate interest or consent.
Data is shared only with the necessary processors: Stripe (payment), Beehiiv (email sending), the Site host and La Poste (delivery). Some of these providers are established outside the European Union; transfers are governed by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Data is kept for the duration of the subscription and then 3 years after it ends for marketing purposes, and 10 years for accounting records. The Subscriber has rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability, exercised by email to customer service. They may lodge a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr) or the authority of their country of residence. The Site's privacy policy supplements this article.
The Seller has an obligation of means regarding the regularity of postal delivery, which it does not control. It cannot be held liable for non-performance or improper performance attributable to the Subscriber (incorrect address, inaccessible mailbox), to the unforeseeable and insurmountable act of a third party, or to force majeure within the meaning of Article 1218 of the French Civil Code, including a strike or interruption of the postal service.
In any event, except for gross negligence or personal injury, the Seller's liability is limited to the sums paid by the Subscriber for the last twelve months of subscription.
The Site may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance. If a feature of the subscriber area (including cancellation) is inaccessible, the Subscriber may exercise their rights by email under the same conditions and with the same effects.
These Terms are governed by French law, without prejudice to more protective mandatory provisions of the law of the Consumer's country of habitual residence.
In case of difficulty, the Subscriber first contacts customer service (Article 8). If no solution is found within 30 days, they may refer the matter free of charge to the consumer mediator designated by the Seller: [mediator name, postal address and website – to be completed after membership], in accordance with Articles L612-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code. The Subscriber remains free to bring the matter before any competent court, including that of their domicile.
These Terms are written in French. Translations offered on the Site are for convenience only; in case of discrepancy, the French version prevails, unless otherwise required by mandatory law of the Consumer's country of residence.
(Complete and return only if you wish to withdraw from your initial subscription, under the conditions of Article 6.)
